hats continued…

October 14th, 2006

It has come to my attention that some women are taking the hat trend and just running with it; slapping anything on their head that will cover it and believing that it will be fashionably acceptable.  Having noticed this, I was feeling the need to reiterate this hat phenomenon with some clear regulations.  Honestly, I do not see how some women can get it this wrong:
MD
What is this, Minnie Driver?  I am skipping the outfit since we are here to discuss the hideous hat - plus it would take to long to break that one down!  This hat is a perfect example of how not to participate in the hat trend.  Do not go out wearing a hat that is six inches off of your forhead and aides in your resembling a man.
DK
I love you, Diane, you know that.  You are a fabulous actress who embraces her age instead of going under the knife to hide it.  I respect that.  What I don’t respect is this hat.  You are not the type of woman to straddle the back of a Harley Davidson, why wear a hat that insinuates such a thing?  Why?
Fergie
Recently dubbed “The Dutchess,” Fergie gets it all wrong with this plaid baret.  She should have taken note of Miss Jessica Simpson’s hat mishap and learned from her mistake.  Also, I am seeing the “six inches from the forehead,” thing happening here, only in the back ?!?!  The front of that hat would make a perfect ski slope for Stuart Little it is so steep.
VB
Okay, so this hat actually has the potential of being super cute, only how can she see under there?  It looks like she is at risk of walking straight into a stationary object at any moment.  She needs to either pull it down in the back a little letting at least one eye peek through, or eat a little something, which would result in her head gaining weight; thus the hat would not swallow it whole.  This hat is not a total don’t but if you do, be sure and learn from Posh here, and do not choose a hat that will completely cover your peepers.
KateMoss
Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous.  Though I have no idea what is going on below the belt here, Kate Moss pulls off her black felt hat perfectly.  It seems that Miss Fashion herself almost always gets it right!
xtina
Not to mention Baby Jane looking absolutely phenomenal in her brimmed hat completing a look reminiscent of Jessica Rabbit.  Talk about a sexy siren!  I couldn’t help but include a couple of examples of hat do’s.  So, I hope this has cleared things up a bit.  I know I feel better.  Next time you’re out shopping and are considering engaging in the trend; a hat is an absolute do, but be careful out there and choose wisely!
