two sides to every trend?

Nothing is more disheartening than reading about the same trend in two different fashion mags being portrayed in different lights. Take this months issue of INStyle. In it, their fashion experts lend a helping hand on how to properly pull off the “heavy neckalcing” trend. Only problem with that is, I recently read in Harper’s that going very light in the way of jewelry is what is in for spring ‘07…less is more sort of thing. What is one to do at this point in time? Both fashion mags have their own lovely fashion experts who get paid to be on the forefront of what is hot in fashion and here it is, two conflicting arguments concerning spring accessorizing. Completely frustrating right? Lucky for me, this particular instance was a no brainer. INStyle has it all wrong on this one. The heavy necklacing is out for spring ‘07. I was already pretty confident in my findings from Harper’s Bazaar but the fact that INStyle actually used Grey’s Anatomy’s Ellen Pompeo’s look at this year’s Screen Actor’s Guild Awards cemented it for me.
Pompeo made just about every worst-dressed list out there for this look, most notably for choosing to go with a heavy neckline so I’d have have to go with Bazaar on this one. INStyle - you know I love ya but am pretty sure I’ll use your tips on heavy necklacing as a “how NOT to” as opposed to a “how to.”
