It’s funny how a continuous theme seems to keep popping up throughout a day with no explanation as to why. Don’t you ever have those experiences where you may hear of something for the first time and then after that it seems as though that very thing seems to pop up everywhere after that? I might be alone in this one, but it seems to happen to me a bunch. Take today, for instance. Seemed like any other normal day at first but I get a call from a girlfriend who randomly quotes that Frankie chick from MTV’s The Real World like 3 or 4 seasons ago who said something about being “too punk rock for this.” I questioned her comment wondering if she had simply been a victim of insomnia and forced to watch re-runs of the show at 4am on MTV2.
Later, I am at my local Target browsing the cds and I spot the new Avril Lavigne cd. First thing I say to myself, “so punk rock.” Now, what is that exactly? I have not put the words punk and
rock together in a sentence in my existence and now all of the sudden, it comes spewing out like I am an angry teenager on the verge of shaving her head. Not to mention the fact that I didn’t even know Avril had a new cd on sale. Had it been any other day, I probably would not have even noticed her cd. Fast forward to my daily internet browsing for fashion/celeb/handbag goodies and I come across a blog posting on the fabulous purseblog.com that contains the very phrase “punk rocker.” Okay, this is the kind of day that I am talking about. When in my lifetime have I been exposed to elements of punk rock a total of three times in a day? On a sidenote: I did agree with author, Megs, that the Mulberry Studded Hobo Bag is terribly horrendous and needs to take it down a notch. I found several examples of completely acceptable “studdery,” such as this Roberto Cavalli. At any rate, these are the kinds of days that I have to stop and ask myself, “what the heck is going on?” With no response of course. I am sure I have confused you enough for one day, I have a few errands to run and am wondering if maybe I’ll run into some local punk rockers tearing it up on their skateboards or something to that effect to add to this punk filled day.
