Cartier Love Charity Bands
June 10th, 2007
It has always intrigued me to know exactly why Louis Cartier fashioned his Love line after infamous chastity belts! Why would you use something that illustrated sheer lack of love to promote the essence of what it means to love! Not to say that I am not a fan of his breath taking collection because honestly there isn’t anything I wouldn’t do to get Cartier ring into my jewelry box.
In recent day, Cartier has not only become famous for their luxe accessories but also for spreading the gift of caring across the globe. Cartier came up with a variation of the original LOVE bracelets that signify giving to different causes. They are silk bracelets that carry a miniature LOVE band emblem in the center and have been color coded to illustrate which causes they assist:

Baby Pink Bracelet –USA Harvest
Red Bracelet –YouthAIDS
Purple Bracelet -Kanbar Institute of Film and Television / Graduate Division/Tisch School of the Arts/ NYU
Green Bracelet -Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust
Blue Bracelet -UNICEF
Black Bracelet- Mercy Corps / Gulf Coast Recovery
Deep Pink Bracelet-The Breast Cancer Research Foundation
June 8 has been christened “Declare Your Love Day” after enjoying two prosperous years in raising funds for various charities. This year the Cartier held a dinner at Cartier Mansion in New York City to unveil their designs for the charity collection. A-listers like Eva Mendes, Julianne Moore, Faith Hill, and Rachel Weisz were spotted showing their support.
Eva was seen matching a Navy band which is dedicated to raising money for The Art of Elysium with her ravishing Alberta Ferretti gown.
She redefined what it means to be a glamour queen that night; the only thing that was missing was an equally glamourous handbag by her side. Nothing would have been more perfect than the Applique Bag Prada has come out with!
Julianne Moore had attended the evening on behalf of the Tuberis Sclerosis Alliance as she had dawned the lavender Love band for the evening.
Faith Hill alongside hubby Tim McGraw wore chocolate brown bracelets to support the Neighbor’s Keeper Foundation.
Rachel Weisz’s lilac bracelet has been dedicated to the Constant Gardener Trust; so that the poverty struck citizens of the lands featured in the film can be helped.
Others in attendance for the event were Hollywood’s favorites: Usher, Rihanna, Spike Lee, and Lindsay Lohan…looking surprisingly sober.
The highlight of the evening, though, was not the celebrities attending rather the incredible generosity of Cartier who had donated 10% of all sales of the Love collection to a list of charities. Not to forget that as of now Cartier has donated almost $1 million to the various charities selected in 2006.
