An Odd Incident

“There is someone special for everyone. Often there are two or three or even four. They come from different generations. They travel across oceans of time and the depths of heavenly dimensions to be with yo again. They look different, but your heart knows them. You are bonded together throughout eternity, and you will never be alone. Your head may interfere: “I do not know you.” Your heart knows.”
This is an excerpt from a book that I read a little over a year ago authored by Dr. Brian L. Weiss titled Only Love is Real, and at the time the inscribed words meant nothing more to me than a description of a fantasy; one we all hope to God can be reality. The novel is designed to explore the connection between life and love, and hypothesizes that the soul travels through time with a companion or a group of companions with which the soul reunites each birth. Sounds like a fairy tale, does it not? I would have responded the same way only a few days ago, but in light of recent events have been forced to reconsider.
I went to my scheduled gynecologist appointment earlier this week, and things were chaotic in there. The office was extremely understaffed that day with all the nurses taking sick days in spite of one; so the wait to be seen- yeah you can imagine. While I waited I got to talking to a woman sitting besides me who I just couldn’t stop myself from talking to.
It was like I had found my long lost twin. Right off the bat we began talking like we had been the closest of friends. We liked the same music, soap operas, shared the same sense of humor, and probably the most important- the same love of fashion. She has on the cutiest wedge heel shoes that I had ever seen. They wee the most unique color- I believe she described it as burnt orange. And just as I would have done had a handbag in the same shade as the staple of the outfit. This burnt orange shade has been turning up everywhere; at least one article is this color in every designer’s runway. So, of course with out any delay as a true fashionista I set out a search for something in the hot new color. Lo-and-behold I found the most scrumptious sweater dress in a tweed version of burnt orange- simply yum! Erika, received my first phone call a few dreadful hours later as a distressed shopper who had a ensemble but no matching handbag. It was then that she told me to relax and just go home, where I was able to log onto a website-dpetruzzi.com- that she shopped at for all her designer purses. I found the perfect Furla shoulder bag to wear with my brand spanking new outfit!
But, getting back on track…it was just like Dr. Weiss described I didn’t know Erika before that day but we immediately shared an ages old understanding of one another. It’s hard to describe, but all of a sudden it was like she’s been apart of mine and my family’s life forever.
