Peggy Li Jewelry

July 5th, 2007

Why is it so hard to get your husband to do anything, let me rephrase that-anything right!  I bought my husband a fabulous sterling silver and pale green faux hematite studded band from Peggy Li as his Father’s Day gift from our children.

Peggy Li is an amazing new jewelry designer; not so famous as of yet but she is absolutely the next Tiffany’s.  With the publicity she is getting from her work showing up on television in What About Brian?, Related, Buffy, the Vampire Slayer, and in writing in the  Oprah Magazine and Lucky it is inevitable, but was not expected from all those who knew Peggy personally.  Peggy Li went to the world renowned University of California Berkeley to study Chemical Engineering, and it was there that she was inspired to begin jewelry making from artisans on campus.  Peggy’s designs are wondrously simple, featuring artisan craftsmanship mixed with contemporary approaches to contrast, color, texture and composition.

I have been in love with a Banana Leaf Bangle from Peggy Li that I saw back in June since the first time I saw it.  It is oh so stylish and has a picturesque vibe to it.  So, as any intelligent wife I requested that the next sweet gift I receive be that Bangle.  But, of course just like for all the other husband’s in the world subtleties never work.  I received a not so nice Hammered Silver Bracelet instead; well, it’s not so much that it is not nice, but that it is not as stunning as the other one nor will it match with my Fendi handbag like the Banana Bangle I had selected.  My Fendi handbag deserves at least one perfectly accenting accessory to go along with it, and I will fight for it until the very end!
