Father-Daughter Sock Hop
July 22nd, 2007
This has been one hectic weekend for me; I’ve had something to do every minute of the day! On Friday I went out to get my groove on at the Nickelback Concert when I was really supposed to be working on my daughter’s outfit. She is going to the annual Community Father-Daughter Sock Hop as her father’s date, and had nothing to wear until about an hour before the event began. I had been banking on picking up a cute little poodle skirt from a nearby costume shop, but just my luck it was closed for a week while the owner went on a vaca! So, I ended up having to make one myself, and believe me you I can’t sew to save my life! Anyhow, I picked up some flannel, a poodle skirt pattern, and a poodle cut out to jazz up the skirt a little from Joann Fabrics. I, then, get home to find out that my daughter already has a pair of 1950’s Cat glasses in a different color! She ended up with a not so poorly made poodle skirt, if I may add, in an off pink shade-almost mauve- with a white tee and cute little button up sweater. When she was all dressed in her skirt and sweater with a satiny scarf tied to the side around her skinny little neck, and her hair tied back in a ponytail with ribbons; I just couldn’t resist going into crazed Momma mode. I must have taken a thousand pictures in ten minutes- a new personal record! She just looked so adorable; so adorable that I got caught up in the moment and sent along my new Roberto Cavalli with her to the sock hop. Yeah, my Roberto Cavalli, a whole mess of hyper girls, and piles of milkshakes on wobbly tables; I’m a little scared! We’ll, have to see how it turns out- keep posted!
