Primetime Emmy Nominations

July 24th, 2007

The Red Carpet is dusted off, vacuumed spotless, and ready to go for the 59th Primetime Emmy Awards.  I cannot wait until September 16th to tune into Shrine Auditorium where the event is being hosted this year!  The nominations came out recently as follows which include several returning faces:

Outstanding Animated Program (> than 60min):
1] Avatar: The Last Airbender
2] Robot Chicken
3] The Simpsons…Last years Winner
4] South Park
5] SpongeBob SquarePants
Outstanding Art Direction For A Single-Camera Series:
1] Deadwood
2] Heroes
3] Rome…Took home the Gold Last year
4] Shark
5] The Tudors

I’m torn on this one; I love all of these shows.  Personally, I will be rooting for Ugly Betty- nothing is funnier to me than fashion satires, but most likely Rome will be going home once again with the Emmy statuette.

The Saprano’s was the talk of the nomination announcement evening, though, with a whopping fifteen nominations!  As entertaining as the Primetime Emmy’s have been year after year, I truly am glued to my seat most at the arrival of the Celebs.  Nothing intrigues me more than to see what trends hit the Carpet, and maybe in part to see which A-Listers need to enroll into Fashion 101 after a wardrobe catastrophe airs live nationally; it sounds a little conniving, but admit it you were thinking the same thing!  I hope to see many of the starlets donning spectacular gowns like the stunning Off White and Silver embroidered evening dress Katherine Heigl sported in 2006.  I would love for one of Carmen Marc Valvo’s Couture Gowns to show up on screen this year because he is so under-credited for his amazing work.  I fell in love with a yummy Black Nude Stripped Beaded Gown by Valvo which I came across during my recent window shopping visit (it seemed much more like a tour though) to Neiman Marcus.  I’m sure we’ll be seeing lots of Ferretti, Dior, and Cavalli, of course, both for gowns and handbag accesorization, but I’m not complaining because without them the Red Carpet can’t possibly look as glamorous as it does.  Speaking of Cavalli and evening events; I have a new handbag that I am totally crushing over.  I could swear that when I first laid eyes on it, I drooled just a lil bit!  Okay, maybe that’s an exaggeration, but the bag is breathtakingly fab!
